My goal is always to empower individuals to do what they need to help themselves heal. Sometimes we do need outside help from a practitioner.
Unfortunately, not all healers and practitioners are knowledgeable about holistic health or nutrition. This means you need to know what to look for and how to make the best possible choices for yourself and your family. The following are vital considerations when working with practitioners.
Only the highest quality supplements should be recommended. They should be third-party tested to be free from heavy metals, chemicals, and harmful additives and preservatives.
The office space should make an effort to be free of unnecessary toxins. For example, air fresheners fill the air with toxins that patients breathe in. Dental offices that use amalgam fillings and remove them without using safe techniques (SMART) expose workers and patients to toxic mercury in the air. X-rays should be performed in a separate room.
All practitioners should advise their patients to attend to their diet and lifestyle. If they do not know how to do this, they should refer patients to other skilled professionals. Some alternative healers are notorious for leaving this out. They conduct their healing session and then send the client on their way without empowering them to know how to continue their healing. This leaves the client dependent upon them. Allopathic doctors treat symptoms. This is not the same as addressing lifestyle factors that have contributed to the symptoms and disease development.
Any healer or practitioner who says they are going to heal you is not to be trusted. Healing happens within. A practitioner with an ego so large that they believe they will heal you themselves is not going to be working in alignment with best practices. A practitioner can assess your health and guide you based on their knowledge and training. It is up to you to take the actions needed to heal. If they are not guiding you in how to do that, they are not working in your highest benefit, and are leaving you dependent upon them.
Attempting to heal without addressing toxins in the diet and the home environment will not be effective. Toxins cause inflammation, turn on genes of susceptibility to health conditions and diseases, and prevent our bodies from functioning optimally and being able to effectively heal.
You can take supplements and medications and do all sorts of biohacking, but healing requires attending to the sources of why you are struggling with your health in the first place, so those genes can be turned off.
Remember this as you work with different practitioners. Each may provide a helpful piece for you, but only you can control what you eat and how you live.
